Spring Valley Village and Hedwig Village AV service and installation.
Moved into a home with incomplete app access, silent outdoor speakers or keypads that control only some rooms? Obsidian Audio Video assesses existing Crestron, Control4, Savant and Lutron systems in Spring Valley Village, Hedwig Village and nearby Spring Branch neighborhoods, including installations by others. New-build AV and smart-home planning remains available.
Call 346-357-5323 with the property address and where the project stands: a home under construction, a recently completed build, or an existing system that needs attention. Builders, designers and homeowners can start the conversation.

PROPERTY PLANNING
New construction and larger lots change the plan.
Teardown rebuilds: plan before insulation and drywall
Much of the residential activity here involves older homes replaced by new construction. The most useful time to plan AV is at the pre-wire stage, before insulation and drywall. Bring the architectural plans and the builder's schedule. Decide on equipment location, ventilation and power for that space, speaker and display positions, shade power, and the network backbone together, so each trade is working from the same drawing.
Detached garages, pool houses and long backyards
Larger lots often include a detached garage, guest quarters or a pool cabana. Treat each structure as its own location in the design. Distance, conduit between buildings, available power and weather exposure determine whether a wired link, a point-to-point wireless bridge or additional access points make sense. Adding a mesh unit alone may not resolve coverage in an outbuilding.
Outdoor living and neighbors
Outdoor audio and displays need weather-rated equipment, shade from direct sun where possible, and speaker placement aimed into your own yard. Zone volume controls help keep backyard listening reasonable for the neighbors. For practical guidance on equipment in Houston heat, see the outdoor-audio article below.
EXISTING-SYSTEM SERVICE
Common questions after moving into a new build.
- The builder's low-voltage contractor is unreachable: collect the closing documents, equipment list and any app or account invitations you received.
- Keypads or the app control only part of the house: note which rooms work and whether anything was added after the original programming.
- Outdoor speakers or TV stopped after a storm or power outage: record what still powers on and whether the indoor system is affected.
- Cameras go offline in the detached garage: note the times they drop and whether Wi-Fi also fails in that building.
We assess the installed equipment, how it is configured and whether programming or source files and account access are available before recommending repair, reprogramming or replacement. A new home does not guarantee that every account was transferred to the owner; confirming ownership is often the first step.

BEFORE YOU BOOK
What to share before a Spring Valley or Hedwig Village visit.
For an existing system, provide the address, an authorized contact, the system brand, the affected rooms and photos of equipment labels. Tell us about gates, detached buildings and where equipment is housed. Do not include passwords or access codes in the contact form.
For construction, share the plans, the current phase and the builder and designer contacts. Ask about scheduling, design fees or diagnostic charges and what the first meeting covers. Scope and scheduling are confirmed per address.
System guides and related services.
Choose the guide for your installed platform. Brand names identify the systems supported, not a guarantee that every model or requested change is serviceable.

When should AV be planned for a new build?
Ideally before the pre-wire stage, while plans can still change. Equipment location, ventilation, speaker and display positions, shade power and network wiring are much simpler to plan before insulation and drywall.
Can you service a system the builder's subcontractor installed?
Yes. Systems installed by others are supported. Gather the equipment list, any app or account invitations and closing documents. What can be changed depends on equipment condition and whether account access and programming or source files can be obtained.
How do you get Wi-Fi and cameras to a detached garage or pool house?
It depends on distance, existing conduit, power and what lies between the buildings. Options include a wired link, a wireless bridge or additional access points; the site is assessed before recommending one.
Do you coordinate with builders and designers?
Yes. Share the builder and designer contacts and the construction schedule. Coordination is most effective when AV requirements are part of the drawings before rough-in.
