There is a moment after a theater demo when the room goes quiet and the client just smiles. There is another when a favorite record suddenly has depth, space and detail they have never heard before. Those moments are why we do this.

We care where a speaker sits. We care how the room behaves. We care about the source, the amplifier, the cable hidden in the wall, the network carrying the stream and the programming that makes it all feel effortless. None of those details exists by itself. Together, they become the experience.

Who we are.

Chris Cox brings over 25 years of professional AV engineering, programming, integration and troubleshooting experience across multiple platforms. Obsidian Audio Video applies that experience to existing-system diagnosis, authorized programming work and practical upgrades across Greater Houston.

The company was built on a simple principle: the system should disappear. The music should play. The lights should respond. The theater should transport you. The technology that makes it happen should be invisible — engineered correctly, programmed thoughtfully, and maintained before it breaks. That principle drives every installation, every service call, and every system takeover we take on.

What we actually do.

We are not a volume shop. We take on a limited number of projects each year so that each one gets the attention it deserves. Our work falls into three categories:

• New installations — Home theaters, whole-home audio, smart home automation, lighting control, networking and commercial AV. We design the system, install it, program it, calibrate it, and train you on it.
• System takeovers — We specialize in diagnosing and repairing systems installed by other companies. If your Crestron, Control4, Savant or Lutron system isn't working right, we trace the problem, preserve what still works, and build a practical path back to reliability.
• Ongoing service — We offer maintenance contracts for residential and commercial clients with priority response, remote monitoring and scheduled maintenance. The system we installed stays our responsibility.
