A process built around the result.
Not a sales funnel. A system for getting from "I want" to "it works" without the surprises that plague AV projects.
Conversation
We start with a phone call, not a quote. What do you want the room to do? What drives you crazy about your current system? Photos and a conversation are enough to begin.
Engineering
Speaker placement, acoustic treatment, network architecture, control programming and rack design — specified before anything is purchased or installed.
Build
Clean rack wiring, labeled cable runs, tested connections. The infrastructure nobody sees is built as carefully as the finish everyone does.
Calibrate
DSP tuning, acoustic measurement, video calibration and control system programming. We don't leave until the room sounds right and the system is dead simple to use.

A great theater should stop feeling like speakers, amplifiers and a screen. The room should disappear. Dialogue locks to the picture, bass has weight without becoming noise, and Atmos opens above and around you until the soundtrack becomes a place.

Our Crestron system had been broken for over a year. Three companies came out, shrugged, and tried to sell us a new system. Obsidian diagnosed a network issue in two hours, fixed it, and documented everything.
They programmed our Savant system, set up whole-home audio and outdoor TV. Everything just works. I never have to think about it. That's the whole point.

Do you work on systems you didn't install?
Yes. We specialize in service, diagnosis and takeovers for existing Crestron, Control4, Savant, Lutron, theater, distributed audio and networking systems — regardless of who originally installed them. We start with diagnosis, not a replacement quote.
What control systems do you program?
Crestron, Control4 and Savant are our core platforms. We also integrate Lutron lighting and shades, Josh.ai voice control, and manage networking infrastructure including Wi-Fi, VLAN and AV over IP with Dante.
Do you offer commercial AV services?
Yes. We design and install boardroom and conference room AV, Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, video walls, training room systems, networked AV for houses of worship, and divisible spaces throughout Houston.
How much does a home theater cost?
A properly calibrated Dolby Atmos home theater in a dedicated room typically starts around $40,000 and goes up from there depending on room size, equipment selection, acoustic treatment and control system integration. We design to your budget and your room — not a package. Call for a conversation.
Can you fix my broken Crestron / Control4 / Savant system?
Almost certainly. We service all three platforms plus Lutron, distributed audio and networking. A frozen touchpanel can be a network issue, a processor crash, a programming bug or a failed device. We trace the system methodically before recommending replacements.
