Lutron shades and lighting: integrating both.

If you're installing Lutron lighting, you should probably install Lutron shades too — and if you're installing Lutron shades, you should probably install Lutron lighting. The two systems are designed to work together on the same processor, and the real value of Lutron isn't in either one alone — it's in the integration.
Why integrate shades and lighting?
Shades and lighting are opposing systems that serve the same purpose: controlling how much light is in a room. Without integration, they work against each other. With integration, the system manages both:
- Daylight harvesting: Sensors detect ambient light and adjust artificial lighting up or down as shades raise and lower.
- Astronomic timeclock: Shades lower at sunset, lights come on at the same time.
- Scene integration: "Movie Night" lowers shades, dims lights, and turns on the TV — all from one keypad button.
- HVAC efficiency: Shades block solar heat gain in Houston's summer, reducing AC load.
